Running my own business was a childhood dream. When I was young, I would enjoy visiting my father’s restaurant business and sat on his chair. I would see my father managing the family business like a piece of cake. His staff would even tell me that I would be managing my father’s business as soon as I grew older. My childhood dream came true; however, it was not as pleasant as I imagined when I was younger.

When I reached the age of 25 last year, my father gave me the responsibility to run our business. By this time, the business has grown and expanded in some cities in the country. It was quite difficult to manage a business with 15 different branches nationwide. It was a big responsibility given to me and I cannot afford to disappoint my father. The business has been running smoothly not until recently where competitors have started gaining more popularity in our area. The food industry is the most common business and competitors will always challenge other entrepreneurs. I had to make a strategy to make our business better than the others. That was the time when I decided to put a website under our restaurant’s name.

It was my cousin who created the website of our business. We talked about the design and the layout that will attract more customers to our restaurants. What he did was put the story behind my father’s restaurant business. The website also features the restaurant’s specialty and other services such as catering and deliveries. With the locations and contact numbers online, customers find it easier to place a reservation or even order online. A Facebook page was even created by my cousin to increase the restaurant’s popularity. Here, I was able to post pictures of our menu and received overwhelming comments from our patrons. Slowly, the business has earned more profit, and we made two of our branches open for 24 hours. By next year, we will be opening branches in different provinces.

What I learned from having our own website is that it has made possible for people to know our company. Our online presence has made a great advantage against our competitors. Further, because of our online visibility, people have access to us anytime and anywhere. It also saves their time in reserving a seat in our restaurant unlike before where customers had to wait for others to finish. The name that we built online has gained popularity and earned customer loyalty. The best among these is that the profits of our restaurants have been increasing yearly with the convenience provided by the website and Facebook page my cousin has created.

For those of you who want to invest on creating a website, I definitely recommend this to any entrepreneur. This is best for those starting businesses that are still making their way to the market. It takes money, time, and effort. However, with the positive return of investment, you will surely tell yourself that investing on online marketing strategies is effective and the best thing that your business needs.
